Sound and Fury uses an in-game DKP mod written by Farmer for the purposes of handling loot distribution, record keeping, tracking attendance, and keeping track of DKP as well as loot received.  You can find the project details and commands as well as download the mod at: SnF DKP Mod.

Farmer originally started writing the mod for several reasons:
1. To keep everything in game. Having to alt tab and try to enter and sort through a dkp site was tedious and time consuming both recording and looking up.
2. To speed up decision making. (see the rest of #1)
3. To have all the non-subjective factors that go into our loot council in one concise, sorted and prioritized list in order for #1 and #2 to happen.
4. To make tracking loot, DKP, and attendance easier and more meaningful.

Let me show you what loot council gets out of it, using the examples right out of our Loot explanation.

Ex. 1: Loot Master links x [item] of awesomeness
Raider A: [link] UG
Raider B: [link] DKP
Raider C: [link] DKP
Raider D: [link] BIS

The person running the mod for the night types the command  /snf list bids o3:
In officer chat, a sorted/prioritized list pops up that looks like this:
(R)Raider C: DKP - DKP 189, spent - 0, DKP 0, BIS + UP 3, AF 45.5 AT 96%
(R)Raider B: DKP - DKP 115, spent - 32, DKP 1, BIS + UP 3, AF 23.3 AT 95%
(R)Raider D: BIS - BIS 1, UP 4, AF 50 AT 100%
(I)Raider A: UPG - BIS 0, UP 5, AF 12 AT 50%

Key: (R) Raider rank, (I) Initiate rank (Name): BID - DKP #=how much you have currently (only shows up if you bid DKP), spent=how much you've spent total (only shows up if you bid DKP), DKP=how many DKP items you've received (only shows up if you bid DKP), BIS+UP=how many best in slot items and upgrades you've received, AT= attendance for the last 4 weeks

AF=attendance to loot factor - basically your attendance for the last 4 weeks divided by how much loot (BIS+UP) you received in that amount of time - IE, how well have you been rewarded for the time you put in? A higher number  tells us you have not received loot proportional to your attendance.

Loot coucil looks at DKP for Raiders B & C, raider C has more DKP, the item is awarded to Raider C.

Ex. 2: Loot Master links x [Item]
Raider A: [link] UG
Raider B: [link] UG
Raider C: [link] OFF
Raider D: [link] BIS

The person running the mod for the night types the command  /snf list bids o3:
(R)Raider D: BIS - BIS 0, UP 5, AF 12
(R)Raider A: UPG - BIS 0, UP 4, AF 15
(R)Raider B: UPG - BIS 1, UP 5, AF 10
(R)Raider D: OFF - Number of offs this raid: 0

Possibility 1: Loot council sees that Raider D linked for BIS and Raider D has been awarded loot normally, so the item goes to Raider D.

Possibility 2: Loot council sees that Raider D linked for BIS but Raider D has been very fortunate this week, upgrade value and last loot are looked at for Raiders A & B, and it is determined to give Raider A the item.

Ex. 3: Loot Master Links X [item]
Raider A: [link] UG
Raider B: [link] UG
Raider C: [link] OFF
Raider D: [link] UG

The person running the mod for the night types the command  /snf list bids o3:
(R)Raider A: UP - BIS 2, UP 2, AF 45, AT 96%
(R)Raider B: UP - BIS 3, UP 4, AF 12 AT 75%
(R)Raider C: OFF - Number of offs this raid 1 AT 100%
(I)Raider D: UP - BIS 0, UP 0 AF 67 AT 75%
Loot Council awards the item to either A, B, or D depending on upgrade value, upgrades received this week, attendance, etc. In this case unless it's a HUGE upgrade discrepancy between A and B, the item would likely go to Raider A.

Here are some further examples of AF so everyone understands this well. Keep in mind that AF is just the part that compares attendance with loot received. When I say "best loot decision" below, I mean as far as attendance is concerned. I am NOT saying that loot should only be given out based purely on your attendance.

It's actually a pretty nice (and simple) mechanic. Let's give two raiders: Lascha and Farmer. Let's say these two have equal attendance of 12 full raids (which is 24 attendance "points").

At this point the AF is simply reflecting who has gotten more loot. If we have:
Farmer with 1 loot, his AF is 24
Lascha with 2 loots, her AF is 12

Looking at which AF is higher leads to the best loot decision (for the attendance based portion of the decision). The other extreme/simple situation is that both have recieved one loot, but have different attendances:

Farmer with 1 loot and 10 attended raids. His AF is 20
Lascha with 1 loot and 12 attended raids. Her AF is 24

Again, AF reflects well who should get the loot. Now let's try a more complicated example. Let's say we have:

Farmer: 12 raids, 3 loot
Lascha: 8 raids, 2 loot

Looking at this at first, some people would say "give to Lascha, she's gotten less loot". Others would say "Give to Farmer, he's got stronger attendance". A few people ask "who has gotten less loot for the time they've given the raid?" AF answers this:

Farmer 24 attendance / 3 loot gives 8 AF
Lascha 16 attendance / 2 loot gives 8 AF

So by comparing their raids attended with the loot they've been given, we can see that both Lascha and Farmer are on an equal standing for their attendance-based loot decision. Most times a tie like this would result in a roll if no other factors stood out. Granted, having ties doesn't seem to be a very useful thing but almost always you have more ambiguous situations like:

Farmer 9 raids, 2 loot
Lascha 13 raids, 3 loot
Buttersauce 4 raids, 1 loot

Ok, as much as we'd like to kick Butters for not having a high enough raider attendance, let's assume for now that we're being forgiving and can consider him eligible for this loot. From eyeballing this setup, I'd have no idea where the loot/attendance balance lies. After doing the math we can see:

Farmer: 9 AF
Lascha: 8.66 AF
Buttersauce: 8 AF

In this case, Farmer neither has the best attendance, nor the least loot. However, his "share" of loot (if you see it that way) would favor him getting this item. In practice, for AF's that are this close we probably would have called a roll. The important thing is that this reduces the need for people to be looking at straight attendance or straight loot given and making their decision. Otherwise, half of loot council would focus on attendance, half would focus on loots given, and especially in the case above they all would have given a different person as the winner. This unifies attendance and loot given into one factor that we can all see as the same number.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN IT'S ALL LOOT COUNCIL DOES. In fact, if Butters really had only 4 raids out of a possible 13, or about 31% attendance, that would have completely eliminated him from the decision. Or, if Lascha gained a huge upgrade with this item, it's possible loot council would have overridden Farmer's AF lead and just given the better upgrade out.

Explaining how people being gone hurts their AF.

Let's take 2 people:

Farmer, attends 8 raids, gets 2 pieces of loot
Lascha, attends the same 8 raids, gets 3 pieces of loot.

Let's say farmer takes 2 weeks off, and during this time Lascha gets nothing new (likely, as 3 loot within 8 raids is pretty concentrated). At the end of this time period (assuming 4 raids per week), We'd look like this:

Farmer attends 8 raids, misses 8 raids, has 2 pieces of loot
Lascha attends 16 raids, has 3 pieces of loot.

Farmer's AF stands at 8, where it was when he left on vacation.
Lascha's started at 5.33, but while Farmer was gone it raised to 10.66

Just by Farmer being gone and Lascha continuing to raid, she has grown above him in AF. While it seems wrong that Farmer's AF just stayed the same while he was gone, the reality is that it failed to grow, as everyone else that continued to raid would have grown. Farmer has missed out on the opportunity to grow his AF, and as such will be behind anyone that attended raids in his absence.

The way AF works, if you attend half as many raids as someone else (and manage to keep being a raider somehow), you will (on average) only be considered strongly for half the loot. So yeah, if you take vacation, and your role leader approves the extended absence by allowing you to remain a raider, you'll get less loot than anyone else, but only by a factor that matches how long you were gone. If you tend to get 1 loot per month, then being gone a month will cost you one loot. It lines up pretty well.

All raid members have two very useful commands at their fingertips.  They can send a tell to the person running the mod for the night (in game) with the following two commands to keep on top of their own information.  It is a very good thing to do so at least once a week so that you can spot potential errors asap and have Farmer fix them.

  • ?attend - this command shows you the credit you received for attending raids for the last 4 weeks.  It will list the raid date, followed by a S - for start raid credit, E - for end raid credit, and W - for Wait List credit for the night, or an X - if you did not receive credit for that portion of the raid.  You will also see your attendance percentage listed as well as your total earned DKP, Current DKP, and Spent DKP numbers.
  • ?loot - will send you a list of the loot you've received in the last 4 weeks along with the type - DKP, BIS, UP, OFF
